The Museum

The civic Natural Science Museum “Enrico Caffi” is part of the cultural heritage of the city of Bergamo. The natural treasures acquired during the course of its history, beginning in 1918, have given the opportunity to create mineralogical, geological, paleontological, zoological and ethnographic collections of great interest. The rich variety of samples, in exposition throughout the 4000 square meters of exhibition halls, is only a small part of what the museum actually has in its collections, thanks to donations and intense research activity that the museum personnel and associates of the museum make possible through specialized projects with national and international research institutes. Visitors can take advantage of particularly engaging playful and educational activities along the path and have the chance to touch with their own hands some original exhibits or specifically realized reproductions. The whole sensory path has been set up to make the completion of it possible even to a non-seeing public.
Research, conservation and exposition not only to show off the wonders of the natural world, but above all, to raise the visitors’ awareness towards the conservation of the natural treasure that we are all responsible to maintain and pass on to the future generations.
